How to modify simulator images in eCopy ShareScan

Information:

From ShareScan 2025.3 and 2026.3, the sample images are at the following location.

1. For the web-based simulator:
   • C:\ProgramData\Tungsten\ShareScan\Tomcat\Config\
   • Refer to "simulatorConfig.properties" in the image repository, which outlines the different methods for altering simulator images.
   • Find line aaa.file = image01.jpg .... then modify, e.g., *.pdf. This will only load the PDF files from that folder as a scan image. 
     • Note: the PDF file does not have a DPI; ShareScan handles them like all have a 300dpi image in it
     • The extension is case-sensitive; it makes a difference whether you type "pdf" or "PDF" in the config file!
2. For the Windows Simulator:
   • C:\ProgramData\Tungsten\ShareScan\ScanStation Client\SampleImages
   • This accepts only image files!
     • png, jpg, tiff

From ShareScan 6.7, the sample images are at the following location.

1. For the web-based simulator:
   • C:\ProgramData\Tungsten\ShareScan\Tomcat\Config\
   • Refer to "simulatorConfig.properties" located within the image repository that outlines the different methods available to alter simulator images.
   • Find line aaa.file = image01.jpg .... than modify eg: *.pdf. This will only load the pdf files from that folder as a scan image. 
     • note: pdf file does not have a DPI, ShareScan handles them like all has 300dpi image in it
     • the extension is case sensitive, it make different if you type into the config file pdf or PDF!
2. For the Windows Simulator:

For ShareScan from 6.3 to 6.6, the sample images are at the following location.

1. For the web-based simulator:
   • C:\ProgramData\Kofax\ShareScan\Tomcat\Config
   • Refer to "simulatorConfig.properties" located within the image repository that outlines the different methods available to alter simulator images.
2. For the Windows Simulator:
   • C:\ProgramData\Kofax\ShareScan\ScanStation Client\SampleImages
   • This accepts only JPG files!
   • The file names must be "image1.jpg", "image2.jpg", "image3.jpg", etc.

For ShareScan 6.2, 6.1, and 5.4, the sample images are at the following location.

1. For the web-based simulator:
   • C:\ProgramData\Nuance\ShareScan\Tomcat\Config
   • Refer to "simulatorConfig.properties" located within the image repository that outlines the different methods available to alter simulator images.
2. For the Windows Simulator:
   • C:\ProgramData\Nuance\ShareScan\ScanStation Client\SampleImages
   • This accepts only JPG files!
   • The file names must be "image1.jpg", "image2.jpg", "image3.jpg", etc.

For ShareScan 5.2, 5.1, and 5.0 installations with the Xerox or HP performance release, the folder location is

• C:\Program Files\Nuance\Tomcat 7.0\webapps\ShareScan\WEB-INF\test (32-bit systems)
• C:\Program Files (x86)\Nuance\Tomcat 7.0\webapps\ShareScan\WEB-INF\test (64-bit systems)

In eCopy ShareScan 5.0 through Service Pack 4 & Ricoh Performance Release, the simulator pulls images from the following folder:

• C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 5.5\webapps\ShareScan\WEB-INF\test (32-bit systems)

• C:\Program Files (x86)\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 5.5\webapps\ShareScan\WEB-INF\test (62-bit systems)

Modifying the files used in the Simulator mode can be achieved by following the steps below:

1. Browse to the appropriate folder referenced above.
2. Back up the existing images to another location.
3. Replace the images with the desired JPEG format files.

Note: The file names must be "image1.jpg", "image2.jpg", "image3.jpg", etc.
