Creating and Managing AutoStore Services Using Task Scheduler

Overview

This guide explains how to configure AutoStore services using the Windows Task Scheduler. The setup ensures that services automatically start after a server reboot and restart daily with minimal downtime.

Scheduled Task Setup

1. Automatic Startup After Server Reboot:
   Use the Task Scheduler to create a task triggered at system startup to ensure AutoStore services run after a server restart.

2. Daily Service Restart:
   Schedule a daily restart of the services at 03:01:01 AM with a 4-minute downtime. This downtime accounts for potential file processing backlogs.

   • Service Stop Task:
     Triggered at 03:01:01 AM, stopping all services.

   • Service Start Task:
     Triggered at 03:05:01 AM, starting all services.

Creating Batch Files

Service Start Batch File (StartServices.bat):

sc.exe start "TungstenRoute" -c"C:\AutoStore\CFG\Route.cfg" -n"TungstenRoute" -g"TungstenRoute"
sc.exe start "TungstenCapture" -c"C:\AutoStore\CFG\Capture.cfg" -n"TungstenCapture" -g"TungstenCapture"
sc.exe start "TungstenProcess" -c"C:\AutoStore\CFG\Process.cfg" -n"TungstenProcess" -g"TungstenProcess"

Service Stop Batch File (StopServices.bat):

sc.exe stop "TungstenRoute"
sc.exe stop "TungstenCapture"
sc.exe stop "TungstenProcess"

Creating Services

If services are not already created, use the following commands:

sc create TungstenCapture binpath= "C:\Program Files\Kofax\AutoStore\batch.exe" DisplayName= "Tungsten AutoStore Capture"
sc create TungstenProcess binpath= "C:\Program Files\Kofax\AutoStore\batch.exe" DisplayName= "Tungsten AutoStore Process"
sc create TungstenRoute binpath= "C:\Program Files\Kofax\AutoStore\batch.exe" DisplayName= "Tungsten AutoStore Route"

Important Notes

• Ensure that the Service Name is used in scripts, not the Display Name.

• Disable the Default AutoStore Service:
  The default AutoStore service should not be started. Disable it through the Windows Services console. Display Name: ControlSuite AutoStore Service.

Function Test 

To ensure that the function is enabled, follow these steps:

1. Right-click on the task you want to check.
2. From the context menu, select “Run” to execute the task.

After doing this, open the Status Monitor to view the services that are actively running. The services should now appear in the monitor, confirming that the function has been successfully enabled and executed.

By following these steps, AutoStore services will be reliably managed with minimal downtime and optimal automation.
