Connect reports "The process cannot access the file because its being used by another process".

000044143 · Troubleshooting · Last Updated: Sep 3, 2026

Issue

After pressing the "Synchronize" button, AP Essentials Connect displays the following:

"The process cannot access the file because it's being used by another process."  and also references the file:

"C:\ProgramData\ReadSoft Software Services AB\ReadSoftOnlineConnect\Bin\Plugins\Adapters\InvoiceCockpitRFC.Adapter\ InvoicCockpitRfcNCo3.Wrapper.dll"

Solution

This message can be seen for a few different reasons:

    • SAP connectivity issues could cause the file to become locked and cause this unrecoverable error to occur.  The only way to temporarily clear the error would be to restart the machine.  However, the permanent fix would be to resolve the SAP connectivity issues, or this behavior could happen again.

    • Corrupted files, due to third-party scanning/security software, could also cause this behavior, in which case the way to recover would be to completely remove and reinstall the software to restore the corrupted files.
