Compatibility Questions about TotalAgility versioning structure

Example scenario: :-

The user is planning to upgrade Tungsten TotalAgility and wants to understand the general upgrade and compatibility considerations for Transformation Designer and Web Capture Service. They also want to know whether business processes currently being developed can be migrated or carried forward to the newer TTA version.

We reviewed and based on the above link "Why is it important that these components be upgraded at the same time?" section and since shared Cloud instance (NA) will be going from 2026.1.2 to 2026.3.1, Can you please validate these versions in relation to the statement of supporting one major.minor version backwards.

Prior to 2026.x, the principle of one major.minor version applies as the product versioning was major.minor.servicepack.fixpack.

However, in 2026.x, it is now more like major.servicepack.fixpack (i.e. you can only apply 2026.2 or 2026.3 on top of the 2026.1 base version). 

Therefore, from 2026.x onwards, TD may be used with one higher major version, that is, TD v2025.2 will be supported to connect to a TS v2026.x server, right up to 2026.4. 

And TD v2026.1 will connect to a TS v2027.3 and so on.

However, please be aware that if a higher version of TD connects to the server and saves the Transformation project, it would prevent the lower version of TD from accessing it thereafter.
